Japanese manga author and illustrator Yana Toboso created the Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) series. Since September 2006, it has been published as a series in Monthly GFantasy, a shōnen manga magazine published by Square Enix. The story center on Ciel Phantomhive, a thirteen-year-old Earl of Phantomhive acting as the monarch's watchdog. He is assigned the task of investigating crimes in Victorian-era London's underworld. In order to get revenge on those who tortured and killed his parents, Ciel has made a deal with the demon Sebastian Michaelis, who poses as his butler. Sebastian's soul will be allowed to be consumed in return for his services.
Black Butler: Sebastian Michaelis and Ciel Phantomhive
1 - Sebastian Michaelis
1 - Sebastian Michaelis
Sebastian Michaelis is the primary protagonist of The Black Butler. He is the butler and bodyguard of Ciel Phantomhive. He is totally committed to his work as a butler, and he obeys Ciel's commands promptly and with great loyalty. He enjoys testing Ciel and occasionally acts as though he doesn't genuinely care about his well-being, which irritates and insults him.
Sebastian is a demon even though he has a human appearance. He has incredible power, speed, agility, quick reactions, and grace. Although he is not immune to pain or harm, he does not experience it in the same way as people do. He is capable of doing practically everything he sets his mind to, especially when his master commands him to.
He occasionally expresses concern for Ciel's safety, as when he was concerned when he had an asthma attack and again when he experienced a panic attack. He has demonstrated his demon nature by being incredibly cruel, vicious, and manipulative toward his adversaries. He is also fascinated by human behaviour and attitudes because of their unquenchable hunger.

2 - Ciel Phantomhive
After the passing of his parents, Vincent and Rachel Dalles-Phantomhive, the main character, the egotistical, business-savvy thirteen-year-old Earl Ciel Phantomhive (Shiru Fantomuhaivu), takes control of the Phantomhive family. He is the owner of the Funtom Company, which initially produced toys and sweets before adding a food division after receiving a Royal Warrant. The symbol of the Faustian agreement he struck with the devil Sebastian is a pentagram, which is normally hidden by a black eye patch on his right eye.
Before he met Sebastian, he was held captive by a cult and destined to be a ritual sacrifice after the loss of his parents. Ciel's tormentors sacrificed his twin during a sacrificial ritual, which prompted Sebastian to be called. In place of the cult, Ciel entered into a deal with Sebastian and then gave the demon orders to kill everyone in the room. Since that time, Ciel has devoted his life to identifying those who are to blame for the humiliation and pain he has had to undergo.
He doesn't really want anyone to be able to see the brand that was burnt into his back when he was being held captive. Ciel presents himself as a strong, somber, and grown-up young lord. He rarely grins and is ruthless when dealing with enemies because of his past losses.
Ciel's older twin brother, the true "Ciel Phantomhive," who passed away before the manga's events, is revealed to have existed during the Blue Cult Arc. His real name is currently unknown, having adopted his brother's identity and status.
