Why cats love climb on height

You're not alone if you've ever come home to discover your cat sitting on the refrigerator's top, a shelf, or any other high point within your home and wondered what she was doing. We're all aware that there are many strange feline behaviors that are difficult to explain, but still, it turns out that perching from high spots is a very prevalent instinct among domesticated cats.

1 - Cats prefer vertical space.

To begin with, the more options the cat has to circulate in space, the better. Cats enjoy exploring, but one way they do so is by being "stealthy" around your room. That gives them the impression that the room is their personal jungle. Nothing beats the sight of our "jungle cats" stalking around.

2 - It is a method of relieving tension and anxiety.

Changes in a cat's surroundings or routine can induce tension and anxiety in our feline pals. Whether it's a major change, such as leaving their current house, or a seemingly minor one, such as relocating the litter box, kittens will cope with stress and worry by seeking refuge from it all.

3 - That makes the cat feel safer.

Cat

Cats are extremely sensitive creatures, and it doesn't take anything for them to become concerned about their safety. Having to struggle with tiny children who may be fairly rowdy around them, as well as other pets that might want to chase or play alongside them, can all encourage a cat to search out high areas.

4 - It's a display of power.

Cat

Cats enjoy standing tall, especially in multi-cat households; it allows them to flex their muscles and demonstrate confidence. They take pleasure in having the "big cheese" of the household. Cats feel less frightened and more secure up there. They can scan the area and see everything in order to "dodge" potential hazards or pounce on unwary bystanders.

5 - Their sleep is of higher quality.

Cat

We know what you're thinking: What is the difference between the cat sleeping high up and sleeping low down? As it turned out, quite a bit! While your cat sits on a seat or even in their bed, it is most likely in the midst of a lot of foot traffic and noise from our everyday activities. In the middle of a busy household, finding a high perch to snuggle up on can provide a cat with a feeling of solitude and peace.

6 - Soft and warm

Kitten

Heat rises, therefore the cat may be expressing its need to warm up or get snug by going to the highest point on the tower.

7 - They desire time alone.

Kitten

Occasionally, cats just desire solitude, and solitary or elevated spots are ideal places where they can do so. It is critical to remember that cats have a natural desire to seek out high areas. Having a tree stand as well as other distractions in the home is frequently the most effective way of keeping them away from unpleasant upper regions.

8 - High locations have equal status.

Cat

Well, like it or not, having the highest perch in such a cat tree or some other highly sought-after area inside the home is a status symbol in multi-cat families, just as having that corner office communicates a human's place in the organizational hierarchy. The cat that controls the 'high positions' is the dominant one, and this provides it with a level of status that the other cats in the home do not have.
