He uses his physical prowess to accelerate half or all of his body to deliver punches, kicks, head butts, and body checks, or for propulsion. Like others exposed to Devil Fruit, Luffy cannot swim; once he's submerged in water or contacts the Sea-Prism Stone, he loses his strength and can't continue on his own. In addition to his Devil Fruit powers, he has large strength, durability, speed, reflexes, agility, endurance, and stamina. Luffy's signature attack is the Gum-Gum small-arm, a punch that he learned throughout years of coaching. Another technique developed later within the series is the second that will increase his strength and speed for a brief time, but strains his body and might shorten his period of time if used too long. Luffy adapts the move to his rubber body and matches the assassins' speed. Another technique uses air in his bones to attack, but makes him shrink later on. Luffy will use each technique simultaneously for 2 years, during which he gains higher management of the techniques and is no longer tormented by their drawbacks. Luffy develops another technique, Fourth Gear, inflating his muscles to extend the dimensions of his limbs He will build harmful moves by compression and cathartic in his limbs and might fly in a very similar fashion to CP9's Moon Walk technique.
