Sphinx Pose (Salamba Bhujangasana)

In Sanskrit, Salamba Bhujangasana Sa means with, Alamba means support, Bhujanga means cobra, and Asana means pose. Sphinx pose is easy on the lower back and forms a part of the acrobatic feat yoga sequence. This pose additionally helps to open the chest, acting as a heart opener. 1 - Begin by lying face-down on the ground with your legs extended behind you, hip-width apart, and keep your arms at your sides and your chin on the ground. Spread your toes and press the tips of your feet into the mat. Don't tuck your toes in, as this may crunch your spine.
2 - Bring your arms up and rest your elbows underneath your shoulders, along with your forearms on the ground, parallel to every alternative. Put your middle fingers directly forward. On inhalation, press your forearms into the ground and carry your head and chest off the ground. Press your pubis into the ground. Your legs will have a strong interaction with rolling your outer thighs slightly toward the ground to help lengthen your low back.
3 - Draw your chest forward and keep your elbows tucked into your sides and your shoulder blades down your back. Lengthen your tailbone toward your heels.
4 - Let your face and eyes soften. Draw your chin toward the rear of your neck.
5 - Continue to hold for up to ten breaths. To release, exhale as you slowly lower your body, chest, and head to the ground. Relax your arms at your sides. Flip your head to the side and rest quietly.
