The reports of tragic accidents and ghost sightings add to the fear of death in the most haunted places in the world. Here are the spookiest places and their horrifying tales. 1 - Hoia-Baciu Forest, Romania

After the incident, in 1968, a military technician captured an image of a "UFO" hovering over the forest. Around the world, this forest has gained paranormal notoriety. But some believe it to be a portal that causes visitors to disappear. According to The Independent, those who have passed through the forest without being zapped into another realm have reported nausea, anxiety, and feelings of rashes. 


2 - Château de Brissac, France

The Château de Brissac is known as the tallest castle in France. The seven-story building is perhaps best known as the home of "The Green Lady," or the ghost of Charlotte of France. The Princess Charlotte, who was the illegitimate child of King Charles VII, was murdered by her husband after he discovered her having an affair. The Green Lady, named for the color of her dress when she was killed, can be found roaming the chapel's tower room, and you can hear her moaning in the early hours of the morning.


3 - Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India

Bhangarh Fort is now an archaeological site, known as the "House of Ghosts", and at night it is not allowed to visit this fort. The story behind this haunted fort is that of a wizard called Singhia and a princess called Ratnavati. She was allegedly an extremely beautiful woman. Singhia tried to get the princess, but the princess spurned his advances. He cast the black magic on the oil that the princess Ratnavati was supposed to use, but before she used the oil, she got a whiff of his trickery and threw off the oil onto a huge boulder. Singhia was killed as a result of the black magic.


4 - Monte Cristo Homestead, Australia

The Monte Cristo Homestead is in the New South Wales state of Australia. The mansion is popular because of the haunted stories related to Mrs. Crawley. After her husband died, the erstwhile owner of the house never came out for 23 years, and when she died, people believed that her body-less phantom had been haunting her room. People claimed to have witnessed her ghost in the window. Flickering lights, strange voices, the floating ghost in the corridor, and reports of murders and accidents in the mansion have also been there in the past.


5 - Myrtles Plantation, USA.

Ten people were murdered in the mansion, and it is no surprise there have been so many reported ghost sightings. The famous ghost in this mansion is Chloe, who had her ear cut off by her lover. She wore a green turban, and she was peeing intently at visitors while they were in bed, as appeared in a photograph. There is also a young girl, known as "Ghost Girl", peering through the window of the house; a soldier; a voodoo priestess; a child bouncing on the beds; and the ghost of an erstwhile owner who was shot in the chest.

6 - Highgate Cemetery, England

The Highgate Cemetery in North London. The final resting place of people has been the subject of numerous supernatural reports. But it's the tale of the 7-foot altitudinous phantom of the Highgate Vampire, with narcotic red eyes and a long black fleece. The shark is believed to be responsible for an unforeseen drop in temperature, time snap, and more. The story of the shark gained significant popularity when a badly charred body of a woman was found decapitated.


7 - Aradale Lunatic Asylum, Australia

The Aradale Lunatic Asylum is the largest abandoned mental hospital. Opened in 1867, the 60-structure complex housed some of the worst fools of the British Empire. The ghost Nurse Kerry story has made it a popular entry from Australia. The ghost is believed to hang in the women’s wing, and the other story is of the ghost of Old Margaret, one of the numerous cases who were forced to leave the shelter when it was shut down in the 1990s.

It has also been reported that it was the scene of a child sacrifice and devil worship, and many ghosts haunt the inn. The ‘Witch’s Room’ is said to be haunted by a woman burnt at the stake in the 15s as she was accused of being a witch. A centurion on horseback has been seen walking through the walls; the agonizing screams of a girl are heard, and a monk sitting on a bed in the most haunted room.
